Peter O'Toole died yesterday at age 81. The acclaimed actor has been in everything ranging from
The Lion in Winter, Troy, and
The Tudors to
Venus, Stardust, and
Ratatouille. But he was probably most famous for his mesmerizing, career-defining portrayal of T.E. Lawrence in the awe-inspiring epic
Lawrence of Arabia. The film had just celebrated its' 50th anniversary last year, and it's sad to think that yesterday the world lost one of its' most talented actors of both stage and screen. It's also incredibly sad that in the last year we've lost not only O'Toole, but Paul Walker, James Gandolfini, Cory Monteith, Ray Harryhausen, Jean Stapleton, and Roger Ebert. And that's just in the film and TV industry, not to mention the music industry losing one of the great soft rock artists (Lou Reed) and Nelson Mandela, one of the greatest world leaders of modern times, passing away.
